25 Feb 2016

W hen I started this blog, (just over a couple of months ago), I wasn`t quite sure about the direction I wanted it to take, and I must say it`s still a work in progress, (so please do bear with me, since there`s so much work that still awaits to be done), but I think
it will be worth while in the end. Since I`m the type of person that likes to give it my all to anything, I set my heart to. In shorter words... I`m a perfectionist! Which has its huge benefits and payouts but at the same time can be exhausting and draining... so I`m just taking my time regarding the flow, for my blog. I told myself from the beginning, I want quality over quantity. And as I`m maturing in age, the same principle applies to all aspects of my life... which to be honest, it didn`t before! But going back regarding the blogging, before having this one... I initially had a previous one, for 3 weeks only... and I just didn`t feel a connection to it. The template was wrong, the subject, the quality, I just wasn`t feeling it. So for that reason, I started afresh... and boy, it feels good already! And why, am I sharing this with you? Well the answer is pretty simple, sometimes the same thing applies to how we have decorated a room or our rooms, in our homes. We just don`t feel connected to any of them. I`ve deliberately linked these two stories because to me, they actually speak of the same thing. Whether we`re talking about our homes and who we are as a person, we need to acknowledge that daring to do things differently or take a stand to be different - does make a difference.

And I`m already receiving the rewards. You see, when I had my first blog, I took the project of  painting the walls in my dining room black...

"All over the blogsphere, there`s been an ever growing love for black interior walls!
It might not be to everyone's taste but in my opinion,
adds a feeling of comfort, coziness and even drama to a room."

Black evokes glamour, sex appeal, and intrigue, and that`s a fact! I do find black to be a neutral color, that more or less goes with everything and makes other object(s) that are displayed next to it to, stand out even more. It works well, in both either classic or modern settings = major bonus!!! The fact that black was the colour trend for 2014 and it is still going strong... just proves, it`s success and popularity and it seems that there`s no stopping this ongoing drama trend! I painted the wall lights, and the fire surround the same black
matte color as the feature wall. And the ornate picture frame also, so that gorgeous print would pop! I was inspired by the Autumnal colors of oranges, reds and possible yellows and that Paoletti cushion seems to combine all the Autumn colors right into one. I also decided to paint my vintage peacock chair a bright orange color to help brighten up this room, and to avoid it from looking dull and boring. At first, I was contemplating painting it a brighter blue color instead, for an extra added colour ... and I so wish, I had. Dammit! Time and money gone down the drain. I hate when that happens! Note to myself: Next time go with my instinct! Although I do love how most of this room is looking, sadly in here the black just isn't working for me, either! I`m finding it rather depressing... to be completely honest. Even though when I took these photos it was in the middle of the afternoon and raining... normally it's just as dark. You see, this room is at the back of our home and it doesn't get much sunlight. Also, it doesn't help that I need to have the voile curtains for added privacy - which undoubtedly lets even less light come in.
So I`m back at painting my walls again...
Which colour? You will have to wait to find out...
Sorry, I`m such a little teaser!
Which of these green hues is your favorite, by the way?
So my point in this post is, don`t be afraid to try a new challenge in your personal life. Like myself with blogging.... even if at first it doesn`t go to plan... then start again! And the same applies to decorating. Even when it looks okay.... don`t be afraid to start afresh and turn an okay room, into somewhere where it`s more than okay... It`s a reflection of you - it`s special!

Just like the saying:
If at first you don`t succeed... try try again!

What about you, have you done any decorating mistakes recently?
If so please do share, I would love to know!!!

And since I feel that this post was a bit heavy hearted... here is a photo of moi, taking my first selfie, about two months ago (to add to the about me page) - believe it or not, I never took one before! I was quite chuffted  with it, until I showed it to my 2 teenage daughters and they had a right laugh telling me, that apparently, I was doing it all wrong... Oh well, I might have to go and buy Kim K's. Selfies book for some much needed tips. If you have read some of my past posts, you  will probably notice how much I love giving tips, maybe its time to go and buy some... (just kidding)!
And hello guys, it`s nice to meet you all, finally!
